Since 1926, Cottonwood Gulch has been a trailblazer, leading expeditions across the stunning landscapes of the Southwest. Our seasoned staff is not only skilled but passionate about ensuring your safety and enriching your experience in the great outdoors. Our summer treks are experiential learning opportunities for ages 8-18 that dive into pristine backpacking and hiking trails, hands on science, cultural exploration, and place-based education in the American Southwest.
For ages 8 to 18, our Summer Treks lead you from our rustic Basecamp onto the open road. Experience hiking, backpacking, camping, science-driven exploration, and nature-based art while immersing yourself in the rich history of the American Southwest.

- Our Basecamp is surrounded by the stunning Zuni Mountains and features historic and eco-friendly cabins, Nature Arts Workshop, mess hall, and pool and so much more.

Jordan, Executive Director
Jordan first came to Cottonwood Gulch In 2007, as a road cook for the Prairie Trek. He quickly recognized Cottonwood Gulch as an organization full of intelligent, curious, and quirky people, and since then his love for the Gulch has only grown. Jordan has held multiple roles within the organization and was honored to step into the role of Executive Director in 2020.
