Overview
The Ecology School's Summer Ecology programs immerse rising 5th to 9th graders in 6 days of exploration across Maine's diverse ecosystems. Led by our team of experienced Ecology Educators, campers get hands-on experience with forests, fields and rivers on our spacious 313-acre farm. Each day is packed with activities like canoeing, forest hiking, and art projects, and ends with a campfire gathering (and of course, stargazing!). This isn’t just a camp; it’s a week of adventure that helps campers build confidence, friendships, and a deeper connection to nature.

Unique Features
- Screen-free and outside all day! Our focus is to allow campers to connect with each other and the world around them, as well as build independence.
- Delicious and nutritious, kid-friendly meals sourced locally with many foods hand-picked by campers earlier in the week.
- Campers will stay the night in our state-of-the-art dormitory at River Bend Farm. Gender-inclusive housing available.
- Located on our new state-of-the-art Living & Learning Green Campus at the magical 313-acre River Bend Farm.

Hello! I'm Alex Grindle, Director of Programs and Retreats at The Ecology School. I've been part of this community since 2002 and love creating meaningful, hands-on learning experiences in nature. When not at work, I'm usually outside with my husband Peter, and our twin boys, gardening, beekeeping, or reading. We're so glad you're considering our Summer Ecology Adventure Camp and we look forward to meeting you!
