Overview
Appalachian Institute for Creative Learning (AICL) offers week-long academic summer camps for rising 3rd to 12th graders. Classes are designed to both introduce the novice and challenge the advanced learner. The classes are small, and our innovative teachers create an environment in which learning is fun and curiosity is rewarded.
We offer a wide variety of courses, hoping to encourage our campers to choose subjects that may be outside of their comfort zone. Campers have the opportunity to engage in outdoor activities in the afternoon, then after dinner go to clubs and evening activities, which can range from campus-wide alien hunts to the disco.

Unique Features
- Campers attend four classes a day, picking from a unique, wide-ranging curriculum of music, crafts, science, art, athletics, performance, and writing.
- In the afternoon, campers head outside for activities like frisbee, hiking, soccer, chalk art, and more.
- Our evening activities vary from rodeos and talent shows to discos and campus-wide mystery games.
- For older campers, we offer leadership programming such as our Leaders-in-Training classes or our Apprenticeship program for recent graduates.
- We also offer a gender-expansive housing option, seeking to provide inclusive spaces for kids in the LGBTQ+ community.

Welcome to the Appalachian Institute for Creative Learning! We're the co-directors of AICL's Summer Enrichment Camp and we've been coming to camp since we were campers ourselves. As alumni, directors, staff, and just about every role in between, we've seen how AICL carves out a space for kids who are uniquely curious, deep thinkers, insatiable learners, and whose natural curiosities bust through the boxes of traditional academia.
