Camp Kno-Koma is a summer camp for children with diabetes in and around the state of West Virginia. Under close medical supervision, Kno-Koma provides a worry-free, classic sleepaway experience where campers enjoy typical camp activities while gaining skills in managing their disease. Adventure, education, and friendship are at the heart of this week-long camp located in the Monongahela National Forest.

Unique Features

  • Camp Kno-Koma offers a classic sleepaway experience tailored for children ages 7–15 with diabetes, blending fun with hands-on disease management support.
  • Campers enjoy swimming, fishing, tubing, volleyball, arts & crafts, nature studies, dances, and campfires—just like any other summer camp.
  • Staffed by physicians, nurses, dietitians, and counselors (many with diabetes themselves), the camp provides round-the-clock care and education in a safe, nurturing environment.
  • Held at Greenbrier Youth Camp in the Monongahela National Forest, the camp offers a peaceful, nature-rich backdrop for adventure and reflection.
  • Campers bond over shared experiences, forming lifelong friendships and gaining confidence in managing their condition together.

The mission of the Diabetes Camp of West Virginia, Inc. is to serve as a non-profit organization with the goal of providing Camp Kno-Koma, a summer camping experience for children with diabetes in and around the state of WV. Camp Kno-Koma believes that there are 3 basic principles to a great camp experience: Adventure, Education and Friendship. Camp Kno-Koma has remained steadfast in these principles for over 60 years.
