Overview
Squad STX is an overnight wilderness camping experience for boys age 10-18. The camp is designed and led by former US Army infantry officers to help young men build stronger leadership skills. We are an alternative to traditional summer camp and Boy Scouts. Not a boot camp!
We combine camping, hiking, land navigation, laser tag missions and problem solving with time-tested military leadership methodologies and situational training exercises (STX). Other activities include campsite planning, knot tying, cooking, knife handling, first aid, and more.
Perfect for either outdoor rookies with no experience, camping experts that want to try something different or JROTC cadets seeking basic overnight field experience or preparation for college ROTC. Our course is tough, but it is not a boot camp for troubled teens. Camping experience or military aspirations are not required, but motivation is!

Specialty camp focus: Leadership, Outdoor Skills
Unique Features
- Campers experience primitive camping, day & night hiking and small group leadership in a 100% outdoor overnight environment.
- Activities also include swimming, knife handling, survival skills, laser tag missions, map reading, shelter planning, outdoor cooking, and more.
- Instructors are cadets or newly commissioned lieutenants from ROTC programs around Texas and are trained in wilderness first aid.
- Conducted inside Dinosaur Valley State Park where boys will be sleeping out under the stars and tarps.
- Father and son camp also available.

Dustin, Owner and Director
Dustin is a former U.S. Army infantry captain from Tyler, Texas. Dustin commissioned from Texas A&M and spent most of his life running around in the woods, mountains, and deserts, serving mostly in 1/1 AD and 172 SIB in Germany, Iraq, and El Paso. After a couple years at KPMG in strategy consulting, Dustin started Squad STX in 2018 with the intent of combining situational training exercises (STX) with Boy Scout and Pine Cove experiences to create tough, fun methods for boys to learn real leaders
